Work To Rule is Working!

Our first day of "work to rule" went well! Teachers are communicating and coming together, unifying to bring about the change we need in PVUSD. We want to work in a district that honors, respects, and fairly compensates the work we do!

Thank you to all of you who attended rallies after school on Monday. Teachers, students, community members, and parents gathered at 5 locations: the Watsonville Main Plaza, on Main Street and Oholone Parkway, Freedom Boulevard, the Rio Del Mar overpass and in front of the District Office.

On Friday, May 23 we will be meeting again in 3 locations to rally and leaflet in the community. Gather from 3:30-4:30 on the Watsonville Main Plaza, in front of the District Office, or on the Rio Del Mar Overpass.

We need to get the word out to tell Sacramento, NO to cuts to education! Also, to build our support base and get people to the next school board meeting on MAY 28, 2008 @ 6:30 PM. We must continue to educate ourselves, the community and hold top administration accountable for the decisions they are making in PVUSD!

Let's support a PVUSD budget that is NOT balanced on the backs of employee salaries and benefits. Remember...we are still almost 6% below parity in salary with our surrounding districts!

Please call the PVFT office for signs or flyers. We encourage teachers to leaflet in their neighborhoods and communities off contract hours. Anyone interested in volunteering to do community outreach in the upcoming weeks, call the PVFT Office or email: pvftcommunicates@gmail.com.

PLEASE communicate your questions, concerns, successes to us. This is just the beginning...TOGETHER WE CAN!
